About us

The St. Petersburg Artist Museum-and-Exhibition Center is an original project concerned with the preservation and promotion of works by Russian realist painters from the second half of the 20th century. The director of the museum-and-exhibition center is Galina Stepanova, an entrepreneur and patron of the arts. The project' s artistic director is Anatoliy Perevyshko, a painter and member of the Russian Artists' Union.

The project' s primary focus is on exhibitions, during the course of which a permanent exposition is gathered, and lovers of realist art are given an opportunity to replenish their private collections. The center organizes personal exhibitions of artists who worked in Saint Petersburg from the 1950' s to the 1990' s, demonstrating a high level of professionalism in their art. These artists' works are housed in the collections of the State Russian Museum, the Tretyakovskaya Gallery as well as in other large museums in Russia and the former countries of the USSR.

A second project begun by the center was the publication of The St. Petersburg Artist magazine. This periodical acquaints its readers with the greatest achievements in Russian realist painting from the mid-19th century to the present day. The magazine' s inaugural issue was recently released. Among its materials were articles devoted to the life and works of N. Bogdanov-Belsky, S. Petrov, A. Perevyshko, and O. Tenyaev. The issue sells for 300 roubles.

Beside exhibition and publishing activities, the center holds artistic gatherings and musical soirees within its comfortable premises.
